AUTHOR'S NOTE: I WAS ASKED THIS DURING AN INTERVIEW

Q: WHAT GENRES OR STYLES HAVE YOU WRITTEN? HAVE THE GENRES THEMSELVES EVOLVED ACCORDING TO YOUR LIFE SITUATIONS?

A: WOW... Powerful question. I write Literary Fiction as well as, Non Fiction. In writing my debut novel, A Misrepresentation of Myself, it was important that each reader feel the depth of Zolla's soul. In order for me to achieve this, I extend to Zolla many of my passions and I do believe that this made her character more realistic. Each and every life experience I have encountered has been stored within my soul. Even experiences from my childhood and when I'm in the mist of creating a story, those past experiences surface and add a special richness. Be mindful that one does not need to have experienced the foundation of a novel to write a key experience. For example, I have never experienced divorce, but many in my life have and their experiences have had an impact on my life, which allows for me to write about experience with a sense of realness. Many of my readers look for me in my characters and I'm sure that this is the case with most authors. Just know that my writing is a passion and a very special gift, and with that gift comes the ability to create "literary magic" (writing beyond what one has experienced) on so many profound levels. ~~~ Mary E.
